Privacy Policy
Plain version: we collect what the game needs to work, we don't sell it, and you can delete it.
Last updated: 12 August 2026
Before you publish this: this is a working draft, not legal advice. Fill in the bracketed placeholders and have a lawyer review it — Apple will also expect a live privacy policy URL and a matching App Privacy questionnaire in App Store Connect.
Who we are
dare:daily is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [ADDRESS]. If you want to reach us about anything on this page, email legal@daredaily.social.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address, username, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text). Optionally a profile photo and display name.
- Content you create — dares you write, photos and videos you post as proof, and votes you cast on other people's proof.
- Game data — which leagues you're in, your draws, completions, rerolls, points, and streaks.
- Device and usage data — device model, OS version, app version, crash reports, and basic event logs so we can tell what's broken.
- School affiliation, only if you choose to verify a school email in order to post to a campus wall.
We don't collect your contacts, your precise location, or your camera roll. The app asks for camera access when you shoot proof; it doesn't read photos you didn't choose to post.
Why we use it
To run the game — draws, leagues, standings, feeds and notifications; to keep it safe, by reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms; and to fix and improve the app using crash and usage data. We don't use your content to advertise to you, and dare:daily doesn't serve ads.
Who else sees it
Other people in the app see whatever your visibility setting allows. League-only posts stay with your league; campus posts are visible to verified members of your school; public posts are visible to anyone. Once you post publicly, assume someone screenshotted it — that's outside our control.
Service providers that operate parts of the app on our behalf: [Supabase] for database, authentication and media storage, [Expo / EAS] for app builds and updates, and [ANALYTICS / CRASH PROVIDER]. They process data under contract and can't use it for their own purposes.
We may disclose information if legally required to, or to protect someone from imminent harm. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Account and game data stay while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, posts, and media within [30] days, other than backups that cycle out within [90] days. Aggregate, de-identified stats may remain.
Your choices
- Delete your account in Settings, at any time, no email required.
- Request a copy of your data, or correction of it, by emailing legal@daredaily.social.
- Turn off notifications in your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA — including deletion, access, portability, and objecting to certain processing. Email us and we'll honor them; we won't treat you differently for asking.
Age
dare:daily is not for children. You must be at least [17] to create an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone under that age, we'll delete it.
Where your data lives
Our infrastructure is hosted in [REGION]. If you're outside that region, your data is transferred there and handled under the safeguards our providers offer.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email account holders and update the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
